I am formulating an idea to use my dog wanting to get a ball to explore my work vs play concept for my depth of field assignment.
The dog is of course a metaphor for me and indeed all of us who are not able to do what we want (eg: play, rest, relax, eat etc....) when we want to and how we are tied or tethered in someway to the rules and schedules we create for ourselves in our lives.
I started this idea by taking some test shots under the big tree in our back garden. The idea being to tether the dog to the tree and use depth of focus to reveal what he is looking at so intently and longingly.
Although after reviewing, I think I will try and move the dog inside, looking out a window at the ball as it gives a much stronger sense of being held captive and not being able to come outside and play. It would also nicely support my inside vs outside related concept. I might even play around with dreamlike images of play the dog might be thinking of when staring outside at the ball he cannot get to.......stay tuned.
