This is my photo of the day and a nod to Emmet Gowin who I have been researching of late.
Techniques of his I have chosen to experiment with here - are shooting my subject with lots of skin showing as well as shooting in doorways with the sunlight on the subject and creating darkness behind them. I also asked Milla to put her hands on the doorframe as Emmet's photo of 'Edith' in the doorway.
Straight away she then chose this cross-legged pose which is more beautiful than I could have ever directed her to do. I love that Wally is there as well. Never too far away from her side.
I chose a low ISO of 100 to provide good quality to the image and restrict the amount of light to keep the hall dark behind her as well as keep the fine features of her skin. I had to do a fair amount of touching up as the doorway was chipped and had distracting paint marks on it. I have left it as a colour image though as her matching pink socks, undies and princess bandaid (from a head bump with Otto earlier in the day) make the image complete for me.
I just love this photo and it is by far my favourite I have taken so far - I only wish she had her strawberry shortcake knickers on this afternoon!
